[00:00:00] Welcome to this sleep by Alex podcast. I am a certified pediatric sleep consultant and a mom of three, and I will be bringing you quick science backed sleep advice to get you and your baby or a toddler sleeping well. Okay. I want you to sit back, relax for a moment, take a deep breath, and think about if any of these following things have ever been you all right?
You have a baby who is a quote unquote bad napper. You have a baby who the moment you rock them to sleep and lay them in their crib or bassinet, they wake up minutes later. You have a baby who freaks out the moment their body even hits the mattress.
Maybe you've been happily doing contact naps for most of your baby's life, and that's been totally fine until recently. Now that you're ready to start practicing crib or bassinet naps, , you're starting to want to gain a little bit of time and space to take care of yourself here and there, and you're wanting to [00:01:00] lay a good foundation for future independent sleep for your baby.
Or maybe you've even felt guilty sometimes that all you do are contact naps. So you try and lay your baby down for a nap just for them to wake up minutes later, which just results in you picking them up and feeling a little bit frustrated, a little bit defeated and exhausted. And you may resort to contact naps all day out of desperation alone.
Maybe you're going back to work soon. Your baby's gonna be of a nanny or a daycare, somebody who can't hold them all day long as they get all of their daytime sleep in like you have been while you've been on leave.
Maybe you're feeling a little sad that you no longer get one-on-one time with your toddler because you're constantly holding the baby 24 hours a day. Right?
Whatever the reason for being interested in starting to practice independent naps in your baby's crib or bassinet. I've got you.
I know how amazing contact naps can feel. I love snuggling my babies, believe me, but I also know that on the other side of that . It can feel a little bit overwhelming and [00:02:00] exhausting and frustrating when your baby will only nap in your arms. That is not sustainable for anybody, even if you love contact naps.
It's truly not sustainable for anybody to have zero breaks throughout the whole day.
I'd argue that at least small breaks throughout the day where you get a moment to yourself are going to make you a better mom.
So many parents have asked me about getting their baby to nap independently. They say, my baby just doesn't nap. Well, they're a terrible napper. Maybe they hate their crib or bassinet.
If any of this feels relatable, you need to stick around. I've seen so many then make the mistake of trying to lay their baby down for a nap without first setting them up for success. This just leads to frustration, the need to contact nap all day long
and it doesn't feel good to be stuck in that space if you don't want to be there. Right.
That is why I've put together a free masterclass for you. This free live masterclass is called The Secret to Independent [00:03:00] Naps. I hosted this almost exactly a year ago last summer, and over 2,500 of you have benefited from this class since then. So to celebrate the little year anniversary, I'm going to host it live all over again.
For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to attend this class.
Regardless of your baby's age,
Whether you have a two month old who you're ready to start practicing crib naps or bassinet naps with. Or whether you have an eight month old who you've tried laying down a thousand times just for them to wake up right after whatever age or situation you are in.
I am going to break down how to get successful crib naps with your baby in seven quick steps. They're actionable steps that you can start the very next nap after you wash this class.
I've taken out all the fluff. I cut straight to the point and you'll be there live with me so you can ask your questions and let me know what you need along the way.
I can't even tell you how amazing it felt to get the feedback after last year's workshop that people were laying down their babies for a nap for the [00:04:00] very first time, and they were finding success with it. Their baby wasn't waking up three minutes later.
Not only did we learn steps to set our baby up for success, . But we also learned how to keep that burnt out frustration at bay. We learned what exactly to expect
and how to shift your mindset around your baby's naps.
I would love to have my podcast listeners at this free masterclass us.
